Bypass Data Center Outsourcing Competition Smartly with Intelligent Automation Services

Currently, data center outsourcing (DCO) providers spend 70% to 80% of their IT budget on operations and maintenance of data centers. However, clients increasingly expect year-over-year improvements in service quality and performance, coupled with multiyear price reductions. These market conditions Force DCO service providers to focus intently on service delivery effectiveness to address rising customer expectations regarding service quality and reliability. Call for improvements of operational efficiency. Require a shift in spending from keeping the lights on to optimization efforts. The drive to deliver against these demands requires providers to adopt an increasing amount of automation in the data center. But providers struggle to know which areas to focus on and how much they should aim to automate each area. Gartner research has identified a focused approach to automation, which providers can adopt within their infrastructure operations to deploy intelligent automation se...

Financial Services Firms Improve Their Cyber Resilience and Prevent More Than 80 Percent of Cyber Breaches, Accenture Study Finds

Yet risks associated with emerging technologies, including machine learning and artificial intelligence, are prevalent and challenge existing security defenses NEW YORK; Sept. 17, 2018 – Despite the volume of cyberattacks doubling in 2017, financial services firms are closing the gap on cyberattacks, having stopped four in five of all breach attempts last year, up from two-thirds in 2016, according to a new research study from Accenture (NYSE: ACN). However, the study also notes that firms will need to improve their security procedures to heed off increasingly sophisticated attacks powered by new technologies. The study, “ 2018 State of Cyber Resilience for Financial Services ,” is based on a survey of more than 800 enterprise security practitioners at financial services firms, as well as an investigation of focused cyberattacks having the potential to both penetrate network defenses and cause damage or extract high-value assets and processes from within organizations. The study n...

Edge computing | How IoT is changing the cloud

The cloud…how did we get here, how did it all start…surprisingly as early as the 1950s, when mainframes – physically huge and extremely expensive – became available to large corporations and universities. They were accessed by multiple users via terminals that had no compute capabilities and acted solely as stations to facilitate access to the mainframes. Some argue this was Cloud 1.0. Fast-forward several decades and as high-speed internet becomes commonplace, users can access almost limitless compute resources from any internet-connected device, subject of course to being able to pay for it. As we enter the age of the Internet of Things (IoT) , Machine-to-Machine (M2M) communication and as the number of data sources continues to grow, the cloud model, with its ultimate physical limitations in terms of network latency will no longer be the panacea it is touted as today, enter Edge computing. What is edge computing? A relatively new concept, edge computing – also referred to as c...
