From The Block to The Vanguard Last night, MTV honored the biggest musical acts for their 35th annual Video Music Awards.Taken place at New York’s Radio City Music Hall, Jennifer Lopez was honored the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award after an electrifying medley including “I’m Real” and “Ain’t It Funny” with Ja Rule and her new single, “ Dinero ” with DJ Khaled. Performance highlights included Cardi B’s opening monologue and performances from Logic, Nicki Minaj, Ariana Grande, Travis Scott, Post Malone, 21 Savage and more. Big wins throughout the evening included Post Malone taking Song Of The Year with “ Rockstar .” Cardi B was crowned Best New Artist and J.Lo’s “ Dinero ” cashed in with Best Collaboration with Cardi B and Khaled. Ariana Grande appeared on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon tonight to promote her new album, Sweetener . She was apparently just scheduled to participate in a comedy skit but, as TMZ lays out, producers asked her to perform a song in tribute to the late Aretha Franklin when she arrived on set. Grande reportedly at first refused, but was then convinced by Questlove to perform a song with the house backing band the Roots. Grande and the Roots covered “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman” to honor the late singer.
