The Psychedelic Paintings of Yu Maeda

Hình ảnh
The psychedelic work of Yu Maeda mix creatures, shifting views, and touches of the artist’s expertise in graphic design. Born in Kumamoto, Japan, and at the moment based mostly in Southern California, the artist combines influences from the entire fields he’s touched, together with animation. A few of his extra symmetrical works resemble Tibetan Buddhist mandalas, whereas others tackle a extra portrait-style have a look at his monsters. Painting Beyond The Lines: Muhammad Zeeshan | Verve Magazine

Framed Text by Huzan Tata Muhammad Zeeshan The artistic era of 18th- to 19th-century Paris is a time he would have loved to live in if he were allowed to fulfil his fantasy, but it’s still his identity as a South Asian that defines Muhammad Zeeshan and all his art. Hailing from Mirpur Khas district but now based in Karachi, the 38-year-old holds a degree in miniature painting from the National College of Arts, Lahore. His multidisciplinary practice sees him work in video, collage, drawing, and installation art — his preferred medium these days being laser scoring and sandpaper. He believes that art cannot and should not have any boundaries. And his works are usually charged by the political and social milieu around him. Creative Beginnings “I wanted to convert my passion into a profession so from a painter I trained to become an artist. As a young boy, I used to indulge in games like dog fighting, cock fighting, and pigeon keeping (I owned more than 100 pigeons at one tim...

“Mimesis” by Artist Kim Kei

Beautiful photos capture delicate, gestural forms by artist Kim Kei . She says, “Our skin contains the interior and is the point of contact with everything outside ourselves specifically one another. Encompassing spaces between vulnerability, invasiveness and tenderness, the unnameable forms unfurl, contort, meet, and touch seemingly of their own vitality. The opportunity for empathy in looking closely and the intimacy being seen transmutes shame into a resilient, forceful affirmation. Creases strike through the form revealing what we attempt to keep hidden bringing these unruly parts of ourselves fully to the surface communicating a body in motion.” See more from “Mimesis” below. Each week our members share their work with us and we highlight the best of these submissions as  Editors’ Picks . Soey Milk’s “Inflorescence” at Corey Helford…

Opening on Saturday, September 8th, 2018 at Corey Helford Gallery in Los Angeles, California is artist Soey Milk’s exquisite solo exhibition of new work entitled “ Inflorescence .” Milk’s masterful command of visual ecstasy endlessly delights and intrigues and for “ Inflorescence ,” which means ‘ the art of arranging flowers on an axis ,’ Soey has created an ethereal display of her own memories in various portraits, presented here as metaphorical bouquets. Milk is one of my absolute favorite artists and this exhibition should not be missed if you’re in the Los Angeles area.  It will be on view until October 13th, 2018. A Unique Exhibition In Britain Explores An Episode From India’s Past | Verve Magazine

Framed Text by Huzan Tata. All images courtesy: Royal Collection Trust / © Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II 2018. It’s no secret that our country is recognised around the world for its cultural marvels, and art that dates back centuries. At a unique exhibition in the capital of England, viewers will now get a chance to see some of these works of wonder from the Royal Palace’s private collection, many on display for the first time — all on a single platform. Divided into two shows, Splendours Of The Subcontinent celebrates the best of Indian cultural history. While Four Centuries of Paintings and Manuscripts showcases miniature artworks from the medieval eras as well as calligraphic verses and pages from Queen Victoria’s diaries, A Prince’s Tour of India 1875-’76 exhibits magnificent gifts received by the Prince of Wales from various Indian monarchs as he travelled through the country during his mother Queen Victoria’s reign. “The fact that the exhibition only includes works of art ...

ikeda manabu’s super-detailed artworks | frankie magazine

Hình ảnh
You could spend a lifetime gazing at Ikeda Manabu’s artworks and probably not find all the details. The Japanese fellow spends two years creating each piece (working eight hours a day with pen and ink on paper), and builds them up in blocks (usually one four-inch block per day). Funnily enough, Manabu doesn’t even know how they’ll look until they’re finished, which must make his personal creative journey a pretty exhilarating one. Check out more of his stuff on this website . قالب وردپرس from WordPress https://ift.tt/2nsJ6ft via IFTTT

gemma o’brien on making cash from creativity

Hình ảnh
In Look What We Made (frankie’s lush new coffee table book), we speak to a bunch of amazing folks across the country making stuff by hand – including the one and only Gemma O’Brien . Over the past decade, the lady’s built an incredible career around drawing letters – one deft brushstroke at a time. In this excerpt from the book below, she gives us the good oil about how to make cash from creativity. Pick up a copy of Look What We Made to read Gemma’s full interview, along with chinwags from a league of top makers in Australia. “It can be hard to juggle commercial stuff with personal creativity at times. I like having a balance of both. Making time for experimentation facilitates more personal work, and commercial work can teach you how to have more structure and discipline when working on your own projects. I like to think of the commercial work as funding my personal work.” “At the beginning of my career I said ‘yes’ to everything. But not anymore. You need to say ‘no’ to some...

madeleine gross’ painted photos | frankie magazine

Hình ảnh
You know when you draw a moustache on a friend’s photo and it’s annoying and destructive? This is the opposite of that. Toronto-based Madeleine Gross thoughtfully applies texture and colour to photographs in a way that brings them to life: a cheeky squiggle here, a playful smudge there. We especially love her addition of painted silhouettes over landscape ocean shots (even though they make our hearts ache for summer). Check out her work or snap up one of her pieces here . قالب وردپرس from WordPress https://ift.tt/2MyIUpZ via IFTTT
