Axwell / Ingrosso Will Be Putting Side Project On Hold

It seems that the world has a fever, and the only cure is more Swedish House Mafia related news. This past March at Ultra Miami, the group returned to the same stage for the first time in nearly 5 years. Since then one thing and thing only has been on everyone’s mind: was Ultra a one-time thing, or is a Swedish House Mafia reunion tour going to happen. Swedish House Mafia Reunion Updates It did not take long for rumors to begin to fly around the Swedish House Mafia Reunion Tour. Soon it was so clear that reunion tour would happen, artists such as Oliver Heldens and even Steve Angello himself spoke about it casually. Before formally resigning as manager of Swedish House Mafia Amy Thomson she confirmed not only the upcoming tour but as well as new music from the group is currently being produced. Excitement levels are at an all-time high, but one question remains. What will Axwell and Sebastian Ingrosso do about their side project when the group reunites? Axwell/Ingrosso Put On H...

Cloud security | Data protection is essential

If recent data breaches have taught us anything, it’s that you can never be too cautious when it comes to adopting the right cybersecurity strategies for your business. For example, high profile Amazon Web Services (AWS) customers, World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and Verizon exposed the personal information of millions of customers by accidentally misconfiguring their Amazon S3 cloud repositories. Despite providers like AWS providing ample information about the best practices for cloud security, the volume of AWS-related data leaks continues to grow. The unfortunate truth is that data breaches are here to stay and could come from any point across a distributed organisation. Adding to the complexity is the growth of cloud technology and ensuring that the appropriate cloud security is in place without compromising user experience. With cloud IP traffic set to rise threefold in the next five years , it is vital that businesses have the provisioning in place to protect the...

Painting Beyond The Lines: Muhammad Zeeshan | Verve Magazine

Framed Text by Huzan Tata Muhammad Zeeshan The artistic era of 18th- to 19th-century Paris is a time he would have loved to live in if he were allowed to fulfil his fantasy, but it’s still his identity as a South Asian that defines Muhammad Zeeshan and all his art. Hailing from Mirpur Khas district but now based in Karachi, the 38-year-old holds a degree in miniature painting from the National College of Arts, Lahore. His multidisciplinary practice sees him work in video, collage, drawing, and installation art — his preferred medium these days being laser scoring and sandpaper. He believes that art cannot and should not have any boundaries. And his works are usually charged by the political and social milieu around him. Creative Beginnings “I wanted to convert my passion into a profession so from a painter I trained to become an artist. As a young boy, I used to indulge in games like dog fighting, cock fighting, and pigeon keeping (I owned more than 100 pigeons at one tim...

Threats Fly As Fight Over $200 Billion Siacoin’s Crypto Code Intensifies

An effort to keep the $200 billion siacoin blockchain free from corporate interests is devolving into chaos amid accusations against the companies at the center of the effort. At issue is the conduct of the protocol’s coders, and the motivations behind their push to alter the rules of the blockchain they maintain. With a proposal, introduced last week, developers including siacoin creator David Vorick have floated changes that would keep some mining equipment operators from earning value by securing the distributed storage protocol. Simply put, the code would fork siacoin so that products offered by Bitmain, the China-based firm on the verge of an initial public offering , and its competitor Innosilicon, would be disabled. But while such efforts have been met with enthusiasm on other blockchains, satisfying concerns about how such changes could impact the balance of power on their networks, there’s just one problem – in the case of siacoin, the equipment that would still work is ...

A cab ride in the bylanes of Bandra has me staring introspectively at my hands, wondering if they could ever produce objects of beauty. My musings are not of the metaphysical kind — I haven’t been gripped by some fervent need to create — but perhaps have more to do with the two women I am on my way to meet. Ceramic artist Rekha Goyal and pastry chef Pooja Dhingra await my presence at the rather idyllic Temperance, a multilevel fitness studio-cum-activity centre where the former conducts pottery classes for the uninitiated. It takes me some time to locate the venue, enveloped as it is ...

Recruitment | Blockchain | A game changer in hiring

Whilst Bitcoin has taken the spotlight when it comes to the application of blockchain technology, we are starting to see a surge of innovation as its potential impact on businesses becomes increasingly understood. Blockchain technology is now being tapped into by many businesses and governments around the world. One such industry with huge potential is recruitment.  Having worked in recruitment for nearly a decade, I saw increasing frustration and a steadily decreasing lack of trust in the processes involved to collect references. Outdated processes meant that references could easily be abused and misused. Over eight years, the number of references collected by recruiters decreased by a staggering two thirds. References used to be the gold standard of an employee’s skills and experience, yet according to a survey by CareerBuilder, 75 per cent of hiring managers have caught a lie in a resume. Instead, employers and recruiters make judgments based on workers’ CVs and ‘perso...

How Chris Lake Helped Deadmau5 Become A Household Name

This past weekend both Chris Lake and Deadmau5 took the stage at Das Energi Festival outside of Salt Lake City, Utah. I was watching Chris Lake’s Instagram story when I saw him re-post a fan’s video of his set. The caption reminded me of a story that I forgot over the years. While many dance music fans are best familiar with Chris Lake’s more recent productions such as ‘Losing My Mind’ and ‘Operator’, Chris has been lighting up the house scene for years. Championing Deadmau5’s First Single Chris has been dropping dancefloor heaters for well over a decade now. In fact, his influence was so great in the mid-2000’s that he helped one of the most popular and well-known dance artists in the world get his start. In a 2009 interview Deadmau5 revealed that just before his massive break, he was close to quitting music. Then Pete Tong premiered ‘Faxing Berlin’ on BBC Radio 1, and the rest is history. ‘Faxing Berlin’ was Deadmau5’s first official single. Now, almost 12 years later it stands...

Painting Beyond The Lines: Salman Toor | Verve Magazine

Framed Text by Huzan Tata Salman Toor Armed with a master’s in fine arts from NYC’s Pratt Institute, this 35-year-old straddles two continents with his art, and considers it an achievement that he’s made “this dual life in New York City and Lahore” work for him. Inspired by pop culture from both the Subcontinent and the Western world, Salman Toor enjoys painting “stories in picture-book style”, usually working with oil paints on canvas or wooden panels, and looks to represent South Asians who, like him, are living a life that’s in between cultures. The pigeonholing of artists from South Asia being his greatest challenge, Toor hopes to portray both the ordinary and the unusual that’s associated with his homeland in his works. Creative Beginnings “I started drawing when I was very young, and found it to be the most exquisite escape and means of invention. I represent stories of brown people living between two cultures, created using an illustrative — sometimes abstract — st...

You Might Have Missed Martin Garrix’s Latest Release As GRX With Icona Pop and CMC$

Last week in the chaos of new music Friday, many individuals (us included!) missed a brand new Martin Garrix tune. The track which is a collaboration with CMC$ and features Icona Pop fly under the radar as Marty used his GRX alias for featured credits. Why Martin decided to use this moniker instead of his more recognizable name is unknown. Though it seems reasonable to assume that Garrix did not want to steal focus off of CMC$ who released the single off of Martin’s STMPD imprint. ‘X’s’ is a happy little future gem. Icona Pop on the vocals helps pull this tune together perfectly. It is relaxed, happy and infectious as all get out. Check out the new release below as we all patiently wait for Martin Garrix’s new release which is slated to drop in early September. قالب وردپرس The post You Might Have Missed Martin Garrix’s Latest Release As GRX With Icona Pop and CMC$ appeared first on MusicCosmoS . from WordPress https://ift.tt/2BrkVrR via IFTTT

As No-Deal Brexit Looms, UK Blockchain Startups Are Weighing Options

From longer approval processes to the threat they might lose access to the European market, it’s safe to say U.K. blockchain startups are looking for contingency plans. A quick recap: in 2016, the U.K. held a referendum on whether to stay in the European Union (E.U.), with a majority of voters opting to leave the economic bloc. Since then, the government has been negotiating with E.U. officials on the terms of its exit – but recent hurdles have raised the specter of a “no-deal Brexit” that could lead to economic turbulence and uncertainty. It’s that uncertainty that has some blockchain startups sweating about their future prospects – at least in the months ahead as politicians attempt to hammer out an agreement. “Brexit is a hindrance to everything in the short term,” said Jamie McNaught, CEO and founder of Solidi Ltd, which is developing a blockchain-based payments platform that uses cryptocurrencies to facilitate money remittances. He told CoinDesk: “[It’s] because all finte...

Tara Books’ Handmade Offerings Are An Ode To The Art Of Bookmaking | Verve Magazine

Hình ảnh
Verve People Text by Lavanya Mohan You’re often quoted saying that you’re trying to revive the physical form of the book when everyone else is writing its obituary. Given the numerous distractions that children have in the form of screens and gadgets today, isn’t it an uphill task? About 10 years ago, there was this huge worry in the publishing industry when the Kindle arrived. But the physical book publishing industry is still vibrant because the book satisfies senses that the screen doesn’t. For children, it’s more difficult because the screen is addictive. Today, it’s very tough to say ‘Go read’ to your child. It will require time and effort on the part of the parent and the educator to instil the habit of reading in the child — maybe by creating rituals, like reading before bed. Slowly, they’ll start asking for the book and soon enough they’ll have their favourite ones. The publisher’s job is to create good books, but it’s the parent or guardian’s job to get the child t...

Avant-Garde Aesthetes: Tarini Sethi and Anant Ahuja’s Artists To Watch out For | Verve Magazine

Hình ảnh
Verve People Shiv Ankit Ahuja, 29 Few artists in India work with image, language and text as a medium of their artistic expression, and that’s what makes Shiv Ankit Ahuja’s artistic practice special. “I am exploring the capacity of images to influence the way we connect and relate to reality, especially with respect to the representation of nature on the one hand and the use of text and images in advertising on another,” Ahuja says. Use of text in art gained huge momentum in America during the sixties. The pioneers of the conceptual art movement — Barbara Kruger, who works with photography and text, and neo-conceptual artist, Jenny Holzer — have been an inspiration for Ahuja. Another major influence on him is Guy Debord’s seminal book, The Society of the Spectacle that offers a portrait of our image-saturated, media-crazy times. Curators-speak “Shiv has always kept us on our toes. He hates taking art at face value and thinks it should hit someone with a brick when they a...

Unstoppable Scams? Ethereum’s Gambling Problem Is Only Getting Worse

Ethereum has a gambling problem. Since July, products resembling Ponzi schemes , a fraudulent form of investment promising high returns for little cost, have  topped the charts  among decentralized applications ( dapps ) running on the world’s second-largest blockchain, outpacing even the popular CryptoKitties . But if user counts and transaction volumes observed on these applications are high, so too is the level of concern over the risks consumers face when using them. Already mounting are warning cries from technologists who aren’t exactly known for their risk reticence, a group that includes gambling dapp developers themselves. Such was the case for Team JUST, the group of anonymous developers behind the infamous gambling dapp FOMO 3D, who warned last week that what looked to be a near identical copy of its game was eating up one-third of the network’s total computational power, raising over $7 million in ETH within the span of seven days. Team JUST has g...
