Over the past two weeks, two companies, CenturyLink and Digital Realty, have announced plans to expand direct, private access to the IBM Cloud in North America, South America, Europe, Australia and New Zealand.

Both companies will use IBM Cloud Direct Link Dedicated Hosting deployments to help enterprise customers establish low-latency, global connections across a security-rich network to the IBM Cloud.

CenturyLink’s Cloud Connect offering will enable wavelengths and IP VPN connectivity in Amsterdam; Ashburn, Va.; Atlanta; Chicago; Dallas; Denver; London; Los Angeles; New York City; Paris; Reston, Va.; San Jose, Calif.; São Paulo; Seattle; and Toronto.

“Our expanded collaboration with IBM enables us to deliver even more cloud connectivity options for customers, including those in Latin America and Europe,” Chris McReynolds, vice president of core network services for CenturyLink, said.

Digital Realty’s Service Exchange Program will enable and expand access in 15 different metropolitan areas, including Melbourne and Sydney.

“Providing enterprise connectivity to the extensive range of services available through IBM Cloud via Direct Link ensures customers not only have access to the compute and storage resources they need, but they are also able to leverage more advanced cloud applications like analytics, blockchain technology and the Internet of Things,” said Chris Sharp, Digital Realty chief technology officer.

Help Test Bitcoin.org’s New Design Before Launch

A Redesigned Bitcoin.org One of our goals in 2018 has been to modernize the look and feel of Bitcoin.org. Each day, tens of thousands of new users come to Bitcoin.org to learn how to get started using the currency and technology. The site has grown exponentially in popularity as Bitcoin adoption has increased. Last year alone, there were over 30 million visitors to Bitcoin.org. These visitors viewed the site’s pages over 200 million times. Many of these pages are often the first results on search engines for bitcoin-related phrases and terms. As traffic and engagement has increased, however, the design has become very dated. In fact, the current look and feel of the site has pretty much remained the same for ~5 years, going all the way back to 2013. As a result, a large amount of effort and attention has gone into a recent redesign project, that’s getting closer to complete. After holding a community vote on various design options, the community selection has been extend...

Devil’s Hole – Death Valley, California Around the world there are legends of caves and crevices that become named “Devil’s Hole” for a myriad of reasons, but all of them are dark ones. Let’s explore just some of the Devil’s Holes found in the United States. Arkansas Devil’s Hole Cave LINK:    O ne day, an indeterminate number of years ago, the owner of the land where the cave is located decided to check out the place. He climbed down a rope about 200 feet to a ledge where the shaft narrows to a point that can only be crawled through. He suddenly heard a vicious hissing from the darkness, perhaps like a large lizard would do, and he made a hasty retreat. Some time later, he and some men from town dropped a flatiron tied to a rope to the same place in the cave. They heard a hissing sound and the rope was pulled hard. When they pulled it back up, they found the flatiron had been badly bent and scored with scratches and teeth marks. They next tried a stone and th...
