Actress, Visible Cloaks and Avalon Emerson set to play MUTEK Mexico 2018

-

The Mexico City-based festival will also feature FACT favorites Aurora Halal, Errorsmith and others.

MUTEK’s Mexico City edition, known as MUTEK.MX, will be back for its fifteenth year this winter and has announced its first wave of artists.

The program boasts a host of tantalizing names, including Errorsmith, Visible Cloaks, Smerz, Wolfgang Voigt, Rainforest Spiritual Enslavement, Lanark Artefax, Nathan Fake, Aurora Halal, Amnesia Scanner, Actress, Chino Amobi and Avalon Emerson. Phew.

Last year’s edition of the festival went ahead despite Mexico City being hit by a devastating earthquake in September. MUTEK.MX was moved to November so staff could assist with relief efforts, and the festival was a success, with performances from Nina Kraviz, Upgrayyed Smurphy, Emptyset, Alva Noto and more.

MUTEK.MX 2018 will take place between November 19-25 and as usual will be presenting a wide-reaching program of digital art and music. For more information and to buy tickets, head to the MUTEK.MX site.

Help Test Bitcoin.org’s New Design Before Launch

A Redesigned Bitcoin.org One of our goals in 2018 has been to modernize the look and feel of Bitcoin.org. Each day, tens of thousands of new users come to Bitcoin.org to learn how to get started using the currency and technology. The site has grown exponentially in popularity as Bitcoin adoption has increased. Last year alone, there were over 30 million visitors to Bitcoin.org. These visitors viewed the site’s pages over 200 million times. Many of these pages are often the first results on search engines for bitcoin-related phrases and terms. As traffic and engagement has increased, however, the design has become very dated. In fact, the current look and feel of the site has pretty much remained the same for ~5 years, going all the way back to 2013. As a result, a large amount of effort and attention has gone into a recent redesign project, that’s getting closer to complete. After holding a community vote on various design options, the community selection has been extend...

Devil’s Hole – Death Valley, California Around the world there are legends of caves and crevices that become named “Devil’s Hole” for a myriad of reasons, but all of them are dark ones. Let’s explore just some of the Devil’s Holes found in the United States. Arkansas Devil’s Hole Cave LINK:    O ne day, an indeterminate number of years ago, the owner of the land where the cave is located decided to check out the place. He climbed down a rope about 200 feet to a ledge where the shaft narrows to a point that can only be crawled through. He suddenly heard a vicious hissing from the darkness, perhaps like a large lizard would do, and he made a hasty retreat. Some time later, he and some men from town dropped a flatiron tied to a rope to the same place in the cave. They heard a hissing sound and the rope was pulled hard. When they pulled it back up, they found the flatiron had been badly bent and scored with scratches and teeth marks. They next tried a stone and th...
